Fleming Resigns From Tech Board Of Trustees

Dr. Barbara Fleming resigned from the Tennessee Tech Board of Trustees Tuesday.

Fleming announced her resignation in a message to the board and TTU President Phil Oldham.

“It has been beyond an interesting experience and an honor to have been on the board,” Fleming wrote.

News and Communications Director Buddy Pearson said the announcement was both a surprise yet expected at the same time.

“Barbara is so involved in so many other things… she is very busy,” Pearson says. “She brought a lot of enthusiasm and compassion to the board, and I think she’s one of those people that’s just a good person that’s going to be missed. It may have been kind of a surprise, but if you know Barbara, she is certainly in control of what she wants to do and how she wants to do it. She’s done a great job and she’ll certainly be missed.”

Governor Bill Haslam appointed Fleming to serve on the inaugural Tennessee Tech Board of Trustees in 2016. Her term was through 2020.

Pearson says Governor-elect Bill Lee will likely appoint Fleming’s replacement once he takes office in January.
