A 22-year-old Cookeville man will appear in court later this month for a charge of statutory rape.
Cookeville Police charged Michael Tyler Phillips last week after responding to a report of a missing 17-year-old female.
According to the arrest warrant, officers attempted to locate the girl at a Broadway Avenue apartment, but no one answered the door.
Later that evening, Phillips drove to the Cookeville Police Department and told officers that the 17-year-old was his girlfriend and was at his apartment.
The warrant stated that Phillips also admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl since June.
Phillips posted a $20,000 bond after his Wednesday, November 28th arrest. His court appearance is scheduled for Monday, December 31st.
