Johnson Arrested Monday Morning In Cookeville

Putnam County authorities arrested a man Monday morning on charges related to a Friday night shooting.

Public Information Officer Laura Hull said sheriff’s deputies located Avert Lee Johnson at a Boatman Street residence in Cookeville.

The 38-year-old suspect has a $100,000 bond and faces an aggravated assault charge.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office issued a BOLO alert for Johnson after he fled the scene of a Friday night shooting on Bunker Hill Road near the White County line.

The shooting wounded a 26-year-old White County man. A 31-year-old female and 31-year-old male suffered non-life-threatening injuries from an assault during the incident.

Officials said Johnson has a lengthy criminal history in Putnam County dating back to 2013.
