Three Car Wreck Leads to Injuries, Citations in White County

A three-car accident led to minor injuries and multiple citations being issued in White County Thursday.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred just after noon on Smithville Highway.

According to the THP, 50-year-old Rhonda Goodwin was driving a 2000 Ford Mustang when she slowed to turn left into entering Dollar General.

As Goodwin slowed, 22-year-old Joseph Rippy was driving behind her in his 2000 Nissan Xterra. Rippy reportedly hit his brakes, slid, and swerved into the opposite lane.

Rippy then struck the 2008 Chevy Impala driven by 28-year-old Riley Whited head-on, causing Whited’s vehicle to spin and roll multiple times.

Rippy’s vehicle was turned back into Godwin’s Mustang before coming to a rest in the middle of the roadway.

Whited and a four-year-old child in the vehicle with him suffered minor injuries. No one else was injured in the accident.

Both Rippy and Whited were cited during the accident. Rippy was issued a citation for due care while Whited was cited for driving on a suspended license.
