Getting access to police reports may become easier for the citizens of Algood.
Police Chief Dale Armour said he’s hoping a new online system will make the department more user friendly.
“Trying to obtain a police report is kind of cumbersome for the community. They have to come in to fill out the report request and then they have to wait for the report to be completed,” Armour said. “There can be a lag time in timely reports being written.”
Armour said the new system would allow residents to request police reports online and pick them up at the department at a later date.
“It would be a one time visit to the police department to pick it up instead of two or three,” Armour said. “I think it’s something the community would appreciate because it would be easier on them.”
Armour said he hopes to have the system up and running by December or January at the latest.
