News Talk 94.1/AM 1600 Where The Upper Cumberland Talks
The Cumberland County Community Band and the Plateau Women’s Chorus will combine to present a benefit concert in honor of Veterans’ Day. The concert takes place Thursday, November 8, at 7 p.m. in the Stone Memorial High School auditorium.
Publicity coordinator Nancy Mitchell said the two groups will each perform five numbers, and then join forces on an additional five selections.
“There will be marches and there will be patriotic selections,” Mitchell said.
The concert is free and open to the public, but donations will be accepted. Proceeds will benefit several area veterans’ groups.
“It will benefit the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 32, Korean War Veterans Association Plateau Chapter 297, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1015, the American Legion Post 163 and the Fleet Reserve Association Branch 294,” Mitchell said.
The groups will also present a musical tribute to Ray Charles, with a medley of some his most popular songs.
