Unusual circumstances led to Patricia Clark being elected as the Allardt Mayor in Tuesday’s election.
According to the Fentress County Election Commission, Clark was the only certified write-in candidate for the position.
The Election Commission’s results indicate 36 write-in ballots were cast, with 25 going towards Clark. The other 11 were non-certified candidates and did not count. Clark declined to comment on Tuesday’s election results.
Citizens of Allardt also elected Thomas Harding Poder to a four-year term as alderman. The town’s two-year alderman position remains open and will be appointed by city officials.
