Monterey Approves Bid For New Shed

Monterey’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen approved a bid for a new work shed at the city’s public works department Monday.

Mayor Bill Wiggins said the building will cost $16,850 to construct.

“It’s to accomodate equipment and vehicles that we have sitting out in the elements right now,” Wiggins said.

Wiggins said the new shed will also be used to store lots of pipes.

“We are putting them in jeopardy by putting them outside because they are a petroleum product,” Wiggins said. “The sun and rain is making them compromised.”

The board approved the project several months ago and Wiggins said the project will paid for out of the town’s depreciation fund.

Construction will begin in the near future.
