Obituaries For Monday, November 5

Mr. Robert Gore, age 61, of Rickman, passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2018, from the comfort of his residence. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

James (Jim) R Stump, 82 of Cookeville, Passed away on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. Born Thursday, January 30, 1936 in Sidney, Ohio, he was the son of the late Charles Stump and the late Bertha Dunnavent Stump. Jim was a loving husband, father and grand father. He liked to fish when he could and work in his yard. He was very proud to have served his country by being in the Army. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Marlene Stump; One daughter: Jamie (Ric) Phipps; One son: Tim (Martina) Stump; Four Grandchildren: Emily Phipps, Jack Phipps, Bekah Stump, Moriah Stump; Two Sisters: Ann Spillers, Nancy Rismiller. Jim is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jerry and Joe Stump. Jim had chosen cremation and no services are planned at this time.

Funeral services for Mr. Burdett Randolph, Sr., age 93 of Cookeville, will be held Tuesday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Stone Seminary Cemetery. His family will receive friends Monday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. He died Friday, November 2, 2018 at Bethesda Health Care Center. He was born March 5, 1925 in Putnam County, TN to the late Ulysses and Daisy Hunter Randolph. Burdett was a combat Army Veteran of World War II. A lifelong farmer, he was also a Free Will Baptist preacher, having pastored for over 30 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Hyder Randolph; brother, Cordell Randolph and sister, Willie Mae Cunningham. He is survived by daughters, Patsy (Gary) Farris and Donna Hamilton; son, Burdett ‘Randy’ (Kellye) Randolph, Jr., all of Cookeville; grandchildren, Kristie Hamilton Welch, Matt (Wendy) Hamilton and Ray (Kelly) Farris; great grandchildren, Duncan and Aidan Welch and Jonathan and Stephen Farris; and by niece, Kay Cunningham Sliger. Mr. Randolph’s grandsons and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorial contributions may be made to Stone Seminary Cemetery Fund, 5688 Mt. Herman Rd., Cookeville, TN 38506.

Funeral services for Ressie M Pharris, 95 of Cookeville, will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at Crest Lawn Funeral Home Cookeville, Tennessee with the Mike Dyer officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Born Saturday, February 3, 1923 in Springfield, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ewing Nation and the late Donnie (Smith) Nation. She passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Signature Health Care.

Funeral services for Mr. Ray Vance Conant, age 91 of the Bon Air Commuity, will be conducted Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00am from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Carter Cemetery with full military honors by the Veterans’ Honor Guard. Mr. Conant passed away Sunday evening November 4, 2018 at his residence. Mr. Conant was born on January 20, 1927 in Rogersville to the late Clint Vince and Bobbie Grace Barton Conant. Ray worked as a garment cutter and was an avid sports fan. He loved basketball of any kind, attending as many local games as he could. Ray also enjoyed baseball, especially the NY Yankees. He even played for a minor league team in Kingsport in his youth, before joining the Army and serving his country in the Korean War. He was a member of the Yankeetown Freewill Baptist Church and served as a volunteer firefighter for the BonDeCroft Fire Department. In addition to his parents, Ray is preceded in death by his son Kenneth Ray Conant, and siblings Elmer Brown, Jonatta Boyd, Louise Davis, Ralph Conant, Ella Ruth Simmons, Curtis Conant and twin sister Ruby Clark. He is lovingly survived by his Wife of 66 years: Lola Mae Gilreath Conant; Son: David Keith Conant & wife Marilyn; Grandson: Jonathan Keith Conant & wife Misty; Great Grandchildren: Teonna Malone & husband Blake, Myles Keith Conant; Brothers: Bill “Buck” Conant, Lloyd Conant, Leo Conant. A host of nieces and nephews also survive. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4pm-8pm at Hunter Funeral Home.

Funeral Servies for Mr. Richard M. Staup, age 71, of Hilham will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 12 noon from the chapel of Speck Funeral Home in Livingston. Burial will be in the Campground Cemetery with military honors provided at graveside by the Overton County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will welcome friends on Tuesday evening from 5 to 9 P.M.. Mr. Staup passed from this life on Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2018. He was born August 18, 1947, to the late Noah and Ann Botta Staup. He loved hunting and fishing. He shared many hunting trips with his close friend Bob Adams and everyone loved to hear his hunting stories. Richard served in the Marines and was proud to do so for his country. He worked for General Motors. Upon retiring from G.M., he liked to do building projects and other repair work. He was very proud of the home he had built for his family. He was a proud member of the Turkey Federation and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and enjoyed the activities with the children.

Funeral services for Eddie “Fast Back” Ray James, 60 of Silver Point, will be Wednesday, November 7 at 1 PM from the Baxter Chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Maynard Cemetery in Cherry Hill Community of DeKalb County. Mr. James died Sunday Night, November 4, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born November 13, 1957 in Putnam County to the late Clifton Royce James and Ruby Jean Johnson James. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister Magdalene James, brother Milas “Mouse” James, grandparents: Hooper and Winnie James and Byrd and Callie James. He was a laborer with Earhart Plumbing Co. in Mt. Juliet. He enjoyed talking on his CB Radio, his handle was “Little Man”. Survivors include wife of 41 years (Married August 15, 1977) Brenda Ann Vinson James of Silver Point, son Royce Ervin James both of Silver Point, sisters Susie Ramsey of Bloomington Springs, Vicki (Bennie) Fields of Chestnut Mound, brothers Roger Dale (Pat) James, Mickey (Holly) James and Larry Wayne James all of Silver Point, Lloyd Lee James and Timmy (Janice) James all of Cookeville, Frankie James of Elmwood, grandchildren: Eli Walker James and Brooklyn Cheyenne James. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM and after 10 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Lee Bumbalough Maver, age 76 of Clarkrange, formerly of Sparta, will be conducted 12:00pm Friday, November 9, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00am until time for the service. Following the funeral, Mrs. Maver will be cremated under the care of Hunter Funeral Home. Mrs. Maver was born September 9, 1942 in Sparta, Tennessee to the late Garfield & Daisy Phy Bumbalough. She was a retired Registered Nurse. She enjoyed the outdoors working with her flowers and mowing her yard. If she was not working in her yard then she was at a yard sale somewhere. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by a son Stoney Teeples and several brothers and sisters.

A Memorial service for Paul Michael Ryan, age 38 of Sparta, will be held at Thurman Funeral Home on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 11:00 am. Paul passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday, October 22, 2018, after a long extended illness. Paul was born in Troy, Ohio to Glenn Ryan and Mary Kathleen Moore on November 20th, 1979. Paul is survived by his daughters Rylee A. Ryan and Madison A. Ryan; step-daughter, Ali Hollensworth; mother, Kathleen Moore; brother’s, Alan Ryan and Raymond Ryan; sister, Stephanie Winterfeld (Dan), Christina Perkins (Matthew), and Veronica Aguirre (Jamie); nieces, Sarah Ryan, Bethany Perkins, Raina Ryan and Miranda Ryan; nephews, Simeon Coppola, Dylan Winterfeld, Jacob Ryan and Victor Ryan. Special friends and family include Diana Gray (Moore), Charles Moore, numerous cousins, and their families. Family will receive friends at 10:00 am on November 10, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Thurman Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.

Memorial services for Mr. Donny Ray Spurlock, 72, of Baxter, will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. The family has chosen cremation. He passed away on Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born December 11, 1945, in Jackson County, to the late Jim Ray Spurlock and Zora Grace West Anderson Spurlock. He was married to the late Ruth Boyd Spurlock. He worked for TRW in quality control. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Son: Kelly Spurlock; and 1 Sister: Margaret Pruett. Survivors include 1 Son: Don Spurlock of Baxter; 7 Grandchildren: Matthew (Candace) Spurlock of Gainesboro, Dylan (Cara) Spurlock of Livingston, Drake Spurlock of Gainesboro, Bethany Flatt of Gainesboro, Brandon Spurlock of Baxter, Cameron Spurlock of Baxter, and Zachery Spurlock of Baxter; 6 Great Grandchildren: Allibeth Spurlock, Bently Flatt, Easton Spurlock, Sophia Spurlock, Kaiden Spurlock, and Arianna Spurlock; and 1 Sister: Sue Jones of Gainesboro. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 10, 2018, from 12 Noon until time of services.

A memorial service for Mrs. Doris Elaine Brown, age 65 of Sparta, will be held at 4pm on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Black Oak Church of God with Richard Key officiating. Mrs. Brown passed from this life on Thursday, November 1, 2018. Born Sunday, September 13, 1953 in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Marice Suter and the late Emeley Dorris Suter. Mrs. Brown was a member of Black Oak Church of God for many years. She was a Sunday school teacher and a good friend to all. Mrs Brown’s surviving family members include the following: husband – Melvin Brown; sons – Brandon James and Brandon Dewayne of Sparta; sisters – Valerie Porter, Sandy Suter and Annette Suter; granddaughter – Kassidy Hubert; nephew – Joshua Porter of Cookeville; nieces – Emily Southwick of Cookeville and Mackenzie Suter of New York. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was proceeded in death by a brother, Thomas Suter. A period of visitation with the family will be held proir to the service from 2pm until 4pm at the church.
