Some changes will be taking place at the Putnam County Courthouse next Monday.
The county has installed new X-ray machine and metal detector.
Putnam County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Eric Hall said the changes will require visitors to arrive at court a little earlier.
“The location of those is going to be moved close to the South entrance of parking lot,” Halls said. “People are going to need to get there a little bit early and there is going to be a little bit more of a wait. It’s a different world we are in now and we are needing to screen a little bit better.”
Hall said there will be an attorney access pass to allow attorneys to be pre-screened. Attorneys can apply for those passes at the current screening location.
The changes at the courthouse will begin Monday, November 5th.
The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a government grant to allow the agency to purchase the new security equipment.
