Monterey Mayor Bill Wiggins would like to pursue another solar energy project.
Wiggins there’s a steep slope behind Perdue Farms that could be suitable for a solar farm.
“It faces southeast and it dawned on us that this might be an ideal place for a solar farm,” Wiggins said. “An array where we could either lease the land to an entity that would buy electricity from that farm.”
The mayor said earlier this month that he’s been discussing the idea with potential energy prospects.
Earlier this month, Georgia-based Hannah Solar began installing a number of solar panels on city-owned buildings in Monterey.
