Inmate Walks Away From Work Crew Wednesday

A Putnam County inmate escaped a work crew near the area of Jackson and Willow Avenue Wednesday morning.

A written statement from the Cookeville Police Department said 30-year-old George Elmore was last spotted by witnesses heading towards Ensor Sink Park. Authorities say he is likely wearing a white t-shirt and black athletic shorts. Police have since recovered Elmore’s jail uniform.

Elmore is a white male, short stature, weighing 165 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on Elmore’s location is encouraged to call 911 immediately.
