UCHRA Looks to Move on From Collins Situation

The Upper Cumberland Human Resources Agency (UCHRA) has received no response from Former Director Luke Collins after voting to revoke a settlement plan with him.

Current Executive Director Mark Farley said no response from Collins and his party indicates the situation is likely over.

“The board of directors had elected not to make an offer to Luke or any type of settlement, [and] our attorney had not reached out to him or his attorney,” Farley said. “From our standpoint, no action is going to be taken, so ultimately, there won’t be a settlement offer made to Mr. Collins.”

Farley said he hopes this means the UCHRA can finally move on from the situation.

“Hopefully that closes the door to his administration and things that have gone on in the past,” Farley said. “We have been working tirelessly to correct some issues that were identified going through the various monitoring reports and audit reports. We feel like we’re getting that under control and underway of being solved. So hopefully this is just a point where we can look at that and say that’s the past.”

Attorney Danny Rader confirmed the situation is likely over but added one item still remains.

“The board had asked me to look into whether or not the agency should take action of its own against Mr. Collins and we haven’t made a decision in that regard,” Rader said. “Hopefully the agency can put the entire matter behind it.”

The UCHRA Executive Board of Directors voted 13-7 to no longer pursue what would have been a $27,500 settlement with the former director.
