Ricky D. Brown, 60, of Gainesboro, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. He was born May 15, 1958, in Gainesboro, to the late Eldon Winford Brown and Betty Merlene Scantland Brown. He was a carpenter by trade. Survivors include 1 Son: Dakota Brown of Moss; 1 Daughter: Ashley Branstetter of Crossville; 2 Grandchildren: Landon Branstetter and Aubrey Branstetter; his Loving Companion: Sandy Johnson of Gainesboro; 2 Sisters: Kimberly (Danny) Thacker of Burkesville, KY, and Pam (Chuck) Stewart of Gainesboro; and 3 Nephews: Josh Stewart, Justin Stewart, and Casey Brown. The family has chosen cremation, with memorial services to be conducted at a later time.
Emma Copeland, 83 of Sparta, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Life Care Center of Sparta. Arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Dimple Shelton, age 89, of Cookeville will be held on Tuesday at 12:00pm from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home. Bro. Paul Flatt will officiate at the service and family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. The burial will follow in the Phillips Cemetery. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, on Tuesday from 11:00am until time of services at 12:00pm. Dimple Shelton was born on November 3, 1928 in Jackson County TN, to the late Ermon and Lola West Flatt. She passed away on October 6, 2018 in Putnam County TN. Mrs. Dimple Shelton was a Factory worker for General Motors and of The Christian Faith.
Funeral services for Dr. David Cummins, age 82 of Cookeville, will be held Wednesday October 10 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Pine Hill Cemetery. He died Sunday, October 7th at his residence. His family will received fiends Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until service time at Hooper-Huddleston Funeral Home.
Funeral service for Lester Wayne Cunningham, age 71 of Sparta, will be 11:00 am Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at the Hensley Chapel Baptist Church with burial in the Young Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Hensley Chapel Baptist Church after 4:00 pm on Tuesday Evening. Lester passed away on October 6, 2018 at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville. He was born December 31, 1946 in White Co. to the late Lester Franklin Cunningham and Betty Reba Steele Cunningham. He was also preceded in death by his son: Kevin Brian Cunningham, Sister: Sue Caldwell, and a brother: Tommy Cunningham. He is survived by his wife: Paula Bethena Young Cunningham of Sparta; Sons: Matthew Cunningham, Lester Wayne “Boss” Cunningham, Ted Gilkey, and Carlos Young; Daughters: April Faye, Leona Gribble, and Christy Gibson; 13 Grandchildren; 8 Great-Grandchildren; 3 Sisters: Joyce (John) Young, June (Rick) Young, Wanda (Don) Youngblood; Along with several nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Mr. Looper Retired From The Cumberland Medical Center In Crossville, As Laboratory Administrative Director With 46 Years’ Service. He Was A Member Of Columbia Hill Baptist Church Where He Served As Head Deacon And A Former Song Leader. He Was A United States Marine Corps Veteran. He Is Survived By, His Wife Of Almost 58 Years, Karen Hull Looper Of Monterey; Daughter, Gina Looper Of Monterey; Son, Anthony Looper Of Monterey; 2 Grandchildren, Kayla Brooke Vaughn And Abigail Rose (Abby) Looper; Sister, Ella Fleener Of Hermitage; Brother, Rev. A.J. Looper Of Rickman. In Addition To His Parents, He Was Preceded In Death By 4 Sisters, Ferba Phillips, Anna Jean Phillips, Bertha Key And Clarice Green; And 2 Brothers, Stanley And Arthur Looper. Service for Bro. James Clinton Wright, age 81 of Walling, will begin at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Spring Hill The Baptist Church. Internment at Spring Hill The Baptist Church Cemetery in Walling. Bro. James passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home in Walling. Bro. James was born on November 23, 1936 in Warren County to Creed Wright and Alberta (Peach) Williamson Wright. Bro. James was a member of New Hope The Baptist Church. He Was Ordained to preach the Gospel April 1969, pastor New Hope Church for 33 years. Also pastor several other churches in our area. He also preached several Revivals all over Tennessee. He retired from Century Electric Company after 30 years of service. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Azzlena Markum, Emma Dell Boren, and Lois Hennessee. Bro. James is survived by his wife Juanita (Anita) Billings Wright; daughter, Kathy Wright; sister, Frances Martin; brothers, Robert Wright and Ernie Wright; honorary grandchild, Kayla Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews. Family will accept visitors on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Thurman Funeral Home at 3:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M.
