A possible tornado touched down in Fentress County just after midnight Wednesday.
Overton County Emergency Management joined Fentress County officials at the area just off Muddy Pond Road. According to Overton EMA, residents heard a “train coming through.”
Upon arrival, officials found a home at 1870 Campground Road off its foundation with trees down. Overton County EMA officials said all the trees appeared to be blown down in the same direction. No injuries reported.
Radar trends from late Tuesday night showed strong thunderstorms with lightning and heavy downpours from Putnam through Overton and Fentress Counties.
National Weather Service officials said Wednesday morning they will make a determination of whether to send a team to Fentress County later in the morning.
A brief tornado damaged a home in Woodbury Monday afternoon. Brief spin-up tornadoes can occur in the warm sector of frontal boundaries. A cold front should pass through the Upper Cumberland around lunch time Wednesday.
