Cookeville is set to honor the lives lost during the 9/11 attacks 17 years ago Tuesday at the Putnam County Courthouse.
A remembrance ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. on the west side of the courthouse. The ceremony will include patriotic music and readings with the playing of Taps as well as a moment of silence.
Preceding the event will be a flag retirement ceremony at 6:30 p.m. to honor the memory of those who have served.
Tuesday morning will feature a tribute to first responders at Prescott South Middle School beginning at 7:15 a.m. The morning event will honor those who lost their lives responding to the 9/11 attacks.
