Remote Area Medical (RAM) is set to host a free clinic in Fentress County this weekend Sept. 8-9.
The clinic will begin at 6 a.m. at South Fentress Elementary School with the parking lot opening at midnight.
RAM Media Relations Specialist Robert Lambert said the clinic will be offered on a first-come first-serve basis.
“We always encourage people to get there as early as possible,” Lambert said. “It’s hard for us to really say how many people will show up to the clinic, but of course, as a non-profit organization we are limited. So unfortunately, we can’t treat everyone, but get there early, bring a snack, bring some water because it may be hot outside still.”
Lambert said they expect to serve roughly 500 people over the course of the weekend.
“This clinic will follow our typical process,” Lambert said. “At 3 a.m. we’ll hand out tickets to the first people waiting, and then at 6 a.m. we’ll open up the doors to welcome the first patients.”
RAM provides various medical services free of charge, including dental exams, eye exams, on-site prescription glasses, women’s health exams, and general medical exams. RAM does not require an ID in order to receive exams.
