Leisure Services Considering Adult Kickball League

Cookeville Leisure Services will host a meeting next week to discuss a potential adult kickball league in the city.

Leisure Services Director Rick Woods said kickball has grown in popularity across the state and country.

“We thought we’d check it out and see if we had any interest in our community to start a kickball league,” Woods said. “We got some great response when we first put it out… We got phone calls, we got responses on Facebook and all the social media, so we’re going to have a meeting.”

Woods said the department received many comments and feedback advocating for a kickball league in Cookeville almost immediately.

“[It] didn’t surprise us really, because we’ve heard from a lot of other communities and other places where they had started kickball leagues and had a good response from their community,” Woods said. “We’ll see if we have enough follow up on that to really make it happen. I hope we do because it sounds like a lot of fun.”

The meeting will take place Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cane Creek SportsPlex off West Jackson Street.

“People who are interested can come and talk about adult kickball, start forming teams, and help us get a league started to have great fun playing kickball again,” Woods said.

The Cane Creek SportsPlex can be contacted for additional information.
