Two people face drug charges after being pulled over for speeding by the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Lindsey Ruth Walters, 33 of Dallas, Texas, faces an Oct. 19 court date and is being held at the Putnam County Jail on $120,000 bond. Seth Christopher Myers, who also faces charges, is being held at the jail with a $120,000 bond.
According to arrest warrants, Walters was travelling westbound on I-40 with Myers as a passenger when she was pulled over between Monterey and Cookeville. Citations on file indicate Walters was exceeding the speed limit, travelling 83 mph in a 65 mph zone.
The arresting trooper reported both Walters and Myers appeared to be “extremely nervous” and denied permission to search their vehicle. However, a trained K-9 officer indicated a potential drug presence, allowing the search to occur.
A safe in the vehicle’s back seat was found to contain over nine grams of cocaine in several plastic bags. Six vile of cannabis and electronic cigarette tips were also discovered in the vehicle as well as other drug paraphernalia.
Walters and Myers were charged with two counts intent to manufacture, deliver, or sell controlled substances and one count possession of drug paraphernalia. Walters was also issued several citations, including possessing drug paraphernalia, simple possession, and exceeding the speed limit.
