Monroe Resident Killed In Pickett County Crash

A two vehicle accident in Pickett County claimed the life of a man from Monroe Tuesday morning.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 29-year-old Joshua Garrett died at the scene of the crash.

According to a THP crash report, the accident happened around 6:00 a.m. on Highway 111 at the Sunset Bridge.

Officials said Garrett was driving South in a 2003 Nissan when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer, 48-year-old Ronald Cunningham of Cookeville, suffered injuries during the crash.

Garrett was not wearing a seat belt, but the report indicated safety restraints would not have made a difference in the outcome of the crash.

The report said no charges or citation will be filed.
