District Attorney Bryant Dunaway has issued a written statement following the wrongful arrest of a White County man.
Ronnie Richardson, 50, was arrested in court on drug charges by the White County Sheriff’s Office Aug. 20 while serving on a grand jury.
“It is the right thing to do to inform the public that Mr. Ronnie Richardson… did not commit any criminal offense,” Dunaway wrote.
Dunaway said his office will look into other cases to make sure no one else has been misidentified.
“This office will be closely reviewing all investigative files produced by the investigator who misidentified Mr. Ronnie Richardson to ensure that no similar error has occurred or will occur in any other cases,” Dunaway wrote.
Richardson’s attorney Brett Knight said Friday the two will consider legal actions after Richardson and his family still had to post bond following his arrest.
All charges against Richardson were dropped during his arraignment hearing Friday.
