Smartt Pleads Guilty To Fatal 2017 Crash

A woman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a deadly December 2018 crash in Warren County.

28-year-old Asia Smartt will serve a year and a half in jail for charges of vehicular homicide and vehicular assault.

The crash happened on the bypass median near Angels Bridge and killed 77-year-old John Winburn. Police said Smartt was driving a 2002 Nissan Pathfinder on the bypass when the vehicle drifted across the highway, went airborne, and crashed into Winburn’s 2013 Chevy Cruz.

Winburn’s wife Patricia suffered injuries in the crash.

As part of the plea, Smartt will not have a drivers license for eight years.
