The Putnam County School System has received $370,000 in school security funding.
The funding was part of some $35 million released by Governor Bill Haslam to help improve school security in Tennessee.
Putnam County officials said $105,000 in recurring funding will be used to add an anonymous tip line to report bullying, harassment, or dangerous behaviors.
Recurring dollars will also be used to add a visitor management system at all schools, digital emergency operations plans for all staff members, and additional school resource officers.
A total of $265,000 will be used on one-time expenditures for improved video surveillance, door security, digital mapping services for each school building, and perimeter security additions.
In order to receive the funding, the Putnam County School System had to complete a security assessment for each of the nineteen county schools and submit those to the State Department of Education along with assurances that the school system emergency operations plans were current.
PCSS officials are in the process of securing vendors to add the services outlined above.
