The Crossville Police Department is preparing a nationwide search for its next chief following the firing of former chief Dave Beaty.
City Manager Greg Wood said the city is in the process of creating an application and will begin the search next week.
“We just want to respect Chief Beaty for the work he did,” Wood said. “We’re just going to press on and hopefully make the department a shining star in Cumberland County.”
In the meantime, Wood said Captain Chris Kendrick will serve as interim chief until a replacement is found. Wood expects the search process to take no longer than 30 days.
Beaty was fired Wednesday after Wood said the department was looking to go in another direction. Beaty served the Crossville Police Department for over 30 years.
