Increased Development Continues in Putnam County

Putnam County continues to experience an increase in development, according to statistics released by County Executive Randy Porter Wednesday.

According to Porter, the 2017-2018 fiscal year saw a near-20 percent increase in permits issued from the previous year. The county has received nearly 650 total building permits for single-family residential houses since the beginning of 2015.

“It’s going to be very interesting to see where our 2020 census numbers come in at,” Porter said in a press release. “I think we will see a large increase in our county’s population.”

35 total permits were issued this July, with 19 being for single-family residential houses. Porter said the projects will total over $4 million, while the county will collect just over $20,000 in building fees. Porter’s report states the 19 new single-family houses will total over $3.4 million in building costs.
