Mr. Lloyd Douglas Brown, age 57, of Old Hickory and formerly of Overton County, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in Nashville. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Daniel Wayne “Bobo” Pippin, 52, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 A.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro, TN. Burial will follow in the John Young Cemetery in the Shiloh community of Jackson County. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Thursday from 9 A.M. until time of services. He passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. He was born February 18, 1966, in Jackson County, TN, to the late Hershel C. Pippin and Dora Lou “Crickett” Pippin. Survivors include 3 Aunts: Evelyn (Kenny) Maynard and Ruby (Joe) Manier, all of Cookeville, TN, and Frances Meadows of Bloomington Springs, TN; 1 Uncle: Junior Meadows of Bloomington Springs, TN; Cousin and Caregiver: Dale (Rose) Meadows of Gainesboro, TN; and Cousin: Tom (Beth) Brown of Jackson County, TN. Other cousins, relatives, and friends also survive.
Funeral services for Gladys Jonston, age 76 of Cookeville, TN will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 12:00 Noon from the Chapel of Whitson Funeral Home with Bro. Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Burial will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday from 4:00-8:00PM and Thursday from 11:00AM till time of the service at 12:00Noon. Mrs. Jonston passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at her home in Cookeville with her family at her side. Gladys Jonston was born on May 21, 1942 in Overton County, TN to the late Bill and Sarah Elizabeth (Cates) Wilson. She was a homemaker and member of the Stevens Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a host of Brothers and Sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Billy J. Lambert, 79, of Gainesboro, will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, August 2, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Granville Cemetery. He passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018, at Mabry Health Care Center in Gainesboro. He was born August 25, 1938, in Jackson County, to the late Guster Lambert and Lillian Lambert. He was a farmer, and a member of the Church of Christ. He also served in the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 Grandchildren: Scott Dennis and Jade Lambert; 3 Brothers; and 1 Sister. Survivors include 1 Son: Billy Ray (Brandi) Lambert of Gainesboro; 3 Daughters: Linda Gore and Brenda Roach, both of Gainesboro, and Rita Allen of Whitleyville; 13 Grandchildren and 1 Grandson he raised, Brad Dennis; 15 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Half-Sister: Jean Young of Chestnut Mound, TN. Several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12 Noon – 8 P.M., and Thursday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Mr. Billy Richard Raines, age 79 of Allons, will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 2 PM from the Chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston, TN with interment to follow in the Hunter Cove Cemetery in Allons, Overton Co., TN. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, August 1, 2018 starting at 5 PM until 9 PM. Officiating at the service will be Bro. Brett Gibbons. Mr. Billy Richard Raines was born in Gainesboro, Jackson Co., TN on February 13, 1939 to the late Clarence and Bertha Harper Raines. Billy served our country as a sergeant in the Army. He loved to buy and sale and trade and meeting people whom he could talk to. Billy was a member of the Martins Chapel Church.

Mrs. Turner passed from this life on Tuesday morning at the Cookeville Regional Medical Center. Bernice was born in Overton County on September 3, 1937, to the late Jim and Nannie Allred Bybee. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed tending to her pets and interacting with animals. Mrs. Bernice Turner leaves her loving husband, Ted Turner of Hilham; son, Jackie Sidwell and wife Linda of Livingston, and brother, Bill Bybee.

Malcolm passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Mabry Health and Rehabilitation in Gainesboro. Malcolm was born July 17, 1954 in Nashville to the late Malcolm William & Dorothy Louise Fry Ownby. He was a former painter. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a daughter Stasha Ownby; sister Dottie Ownby; brother Marshall Ownby. Surviving family include his daughters Heather Ownby of Crossville and Deanna Ownby of Nashville; Son: Shane Ownby of Nashville. The family will receive friends Friday from 11:00am until departure for the cemetery at 12:30pm at Hunter Funeral Home.
Funeral Service for Wilma Inize (Forsyth) Williams will be at 1pm on Friday, August 3, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be at Gravel Hill Cemetery in Van Buren County. Graveside Services will be prior to entombment. There will be no viewing. Wilma departed this life on July 30, 2018 and went to heaven to begin her eternal life. She was born in Sparta, TN and was residing there at the time of her death. Born April 16, 1937 to Arlin Forsyth and Mamie (Lawson) Forsyth. Preceded in death by husband of 52 years, David M. Williams, her parents, one brother, two sisters, and a very dear aunt Beulah Jacobson. She was married to her husband David, a minister of the gospel and pastor, on July 20, 1957. They pastored two churches in MS, one church for four years and 8 months, and the other church fourteen and a half years. They moved to Ada, OK in 1976 and pastored The First Pentecostal Holiness Church for 18 years. They lived in Ada for another 10 years before moving to Sparta in 2003. She was survived by her two brothers, Junior Forsyth and wife Marilyn of Sparta, TN; James C Forsyth and wife Sylvia of SC; and 33 nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5pm until 8pm on Thursday, August 2 at the funeral home.
A funeral service for Minnie Elizabeth “Lib” Smith, 98 of Sparta, will be held at 7pm on Friday, August 3, 2018 in the chapel of Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Father James Harvey officiating. Minnie passed away on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, in Pleasant Hill. She was born Monday, January 19, 1920 in Monroe, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late George and Minnie Brewington Goforth. She enjoyed 61 years of marriage to the late Richard Smith. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Crossville. She is survived by her daughter, Elaine Mullen and husband Fred of Crossville; son, Rick Smith and wife Margie of Sparta; grandchildren, Wendy Steele, husband Shane and children of Sparta; Casey Mullen, wife Meredith and children of Crossville; Corey Miller, husband Zack and children of Crossville; Bill Pedro of Crossville; Amy Edmonds, husband Ryan and children of Sparta; Aaron Smith and wife Meg of Nashville; Steven Young, wife Kirsty and children of Sparta; and 1 great-great-grandchild. The family will receive friends from 5pm until time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Interment with military honors will follow at Crest Lawn Cemetery. Mr. Stewart died Monday, July 30, 2018 at NHC of Cookeville. He was born July 27, 1932 in Overton County, TN to the late John Pleasant and Ella Veachel Franklin Stewart. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death first wife Anna Ruth Lee Stewart, son Danny Stewart, infant daughter Jennifer Beth Stewart, a sister-in-law Wanda Smellage Stewart and a brother-in-law Willard Boles. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired press operator with Teledyne-Stillman of Cookeville. Survivors include wife Doris “Dot” McHood Stewart of Baxter, sons Earl (Pam) Stewart of Baxter, Robert (Teresa) Stewart of Cookeville, daughter Amy (Michael) Fox of Baxter, sister Jane Boles of Cookeville, brothers Albert Stewart of Fortville, Indiana, Morgan (Patricia) Stewart of Cookeville, grandchildren: Corey Stewart, Kayla Stewart, Amanda Stewart, Tiffany Coffee, Daniel Poston and Samantha Fox, 10 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends Friday from 4 to 8 PM and after 12 Noon Saturday at the funeral home.
