The Tennessee Department of Transportation has awarded a bid to pave a portion of Hillham Road.
County Executive Randy Porter said crews will soon begin paving from Bear Creek Road to the Overton County line.
“They put tar in the cracks of the road as a way to extend the life of the roadway, which made it very rough,” Porter said. “We had a lot of complaints about the road over the past couple of years and hopefully once they get done in November we will have a nice smooth road going out 136.”
Porter said about three years ago TDOT paved part of Highway 136 up to Bear Creek Road as part of the first phase of the project. The paving from Bear Creek Road to the Overton County line will be phase two of the project.
The project is scheduled to be completed by November
