Demolition of the inn at Fall Creek Falls State Park will take place next month.
Park Manager Jacob Young said the contractor has received notice to proceed with the project on August 4th.
“We received a call that the crane is about to be delivered,” Young said. “We are anticipating work to start that week, but that’s when the contractor can actually start doing work.”
Young said the foundation for the new 95,700 square foot inn, restaurant, and conference center could be going into the ground as early as October.
“We were told that we would be seeing steel work happening in January or February,” Young said. “In May you might start seeing the building itself get formed up.”
Young said there’s always a chance for delays to occur with the project.
State officials expect the new facility generate $278,000 per year in sales and occupancy taxes – a growth of $90,000 per year compared to revenue from the previous facility.
The $29.4 million project to be completed by June 2020.
