Putnam County Commissioners will consider approving the new fiscal year budget next week.
The highlights of the 2018-2019 fiscal year budget include funding for six new school resource officers and a cost of living raise for county employees.
County Executive Randy Porter said regular employees will receive $1,800 and public safety employees will get an additional $2,000.
“That is intentional that you’re not seeing a lot of increases in this year’s budget,” Porter said. “All the department heads and county elected officials agreed that we needed to do something for the county employees this year. They tried to keep their requests as low as possible to allow this to happen.”
Porter briefly went over the proposed budget with commissioners following Monday evening’s committee meetings.
The property tax rate will remain the same as last year, holding steady at $2.73.
The full county commission will consider approving the budget Monday, July 23rd.
