Clarkrange Man Arrested on Numerous Charges

A Clarkrange man face several charges after a pursuit with Jamestown and Fentress County law enforcement last week.

According to police records, 19-year-old John Stagner was reportedly driving recklessly in the Jamestown Walmart parking lot in a Polaris Razor on July 5. Stagner was able to escape through a field off Route 52 after a JPD officer spotted him.

Fentress County Deputies found a similar Razor at a nearby BP station, but it did not belong to Stagner. At that time, JPD and FCSD officials heard Stagner driving through a field near the Jamestown Municipal Airport.

Records state Stagner then led police onto Highway 127, in which he traveled south in the northbound lane, crashing through a fence and onto a horse trail.

According to Derek Richards of the FCSD, Stagner turned around and drove towards Richards and another officer, nearly hitting both. Officers were able to apprehend Stagner moments later.

Stagner faces numerous charges following the incident, including two counts each of aggravated assault on an officer, reckless endangerment, and felonious evading. He is also charged with one count of destruction of private property and vandalism. His bond was set at $30,000.
