Monterey Approves Rezoning For New Development

Monterey’s Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted Monday night to rezone property for a potential new business prospect.

The property is along Whittaker Street, between East New and East Stratton Avenues. The rezoning request would change the property from R-1 to C-2.

Monterey Mayor Bill Wiggins said he’s not at liberty to release the name of the new development at the current time.

“I can just tell you that it’s a marquee company and when the CEO is ready to make the announcement it will be,” Wiggins said. “It’s a business and I learned yesterday that there’s another prospect coming to town.”

Wiggins said the official announcement of the business should occur within the next few months.
