Two Face Murder Charges in Smith County Double Homicide

A Smith County grand jury returned indictments Thursday charging two men with a double homicide that occurred earlier this year.

Police have arrested 18-year-old Alain Benitez of Lebanon and 53-year-old David Bibian of Pleasant Shade. Both men are charged with two counts of second degree murder.

Police have accused the suspects of killing 38-year-old Shannon Smith of Sparta and 44-year-old Devon Clark of Murfreesboro. The bodies of Clark and Smith discovered April 26th at a home on Dillehay Road in Smith County.

The investigation by the TBI and Smith County Sheriff’s Office identified Benitez and Bibian as the individuals responsible for the crime.

Both suspects are currently being held without bond at the Smith County Jail
