A date is set for Pickett County officials to publicly discuss whether the county should separate from the Overton-Pickett E-911 Service.
The meeting will take place Friday, July 20 at 10 a.m. at the Pickett County Community Center in Byrdstown.
Officials will present information to the public on how a separation from the organization would financially impact the county.
Citizens will also have a chance to ask questions and give their opinions on the potential separation.
Pickett County merged its E-911 service with Overton County in 2002, but recent allegations against E-911 officials caused Pickett to begin planning a separation and creating their own.
The State Emergency Communication Board in Nashville, which decided to postpone their decision after a June 15 hearing, will meet again in August to decide whether a referendum should be presented to Pickett County voters to decide the organization’s future.
