Stolen Car Identified in Runaway Juvenile Case

Cookeville Police have identified a vehicle that may have been stolen by a runaway juvenile early Monday morning.

According to CPD, the juvenile is suspected of stealing a white 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser from a car lot on the corner of North Washington Avenue and East Jere Whitson Road. CPD said the vehicle was stolen around 4 a.m. and may have damage to the rear area.

The department released an initial statement Monday saying the suspect was likely involved in a separate incident prior to stealing the car. Police apprehended two other juveniles after a short vehicle pursuit around 1:25 a.m., while the third juvenile was able to escape.

Approximately two hours after the first incident, CPD said the juvenile attempted to steal a vehicle near the intersection of 12th Street and South Willow Avenue.

Police describe the suspect as a 5-foot-10 inch black male weighing about 175 lbs, last seen wearing a white t-shirt and blue shorts.

Anyone with information on the juvenile’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact CPD at (931) 526-2125.
