An Overton County man serving consecutive life sentences in prison has lost his second appeal to the Tennessee Criminal Court of Appeals.
Kevin Clark petitioned for post-conviction relief in April after his original appeal was denied in 2014.
Clark’s appeal stated he was “deprived of his right to an impartial jury because of an improper communication between a juror and a witness,” and received “ineffective assistance of counsel” during his trial.
In addition, Clark argued the post-conviction court erred when it didn’t limit cross-examination of his witness to questions related to the petition. Clark also argued the court didn’t consider all issues presented in his petition.
Clark was convicted of multiple charges in the 2009 murder of Vida and Roy Clark, including two counts first-degree premeditated murder, aggravated arson, and abuse of a corpse.
