Monterey has passed its new fiscal year budget on third and final reading.
“They have arrived at a figure that spells no tax increase,” Monterey Mayor Bill Wiggins said. “There’s some interesting additions to the budget this year, Monterey is maintaining its level of service and maintaining it in other ways.”
Budget additions include $25,000 to match a grant that would purchase a new fire truck, funding for three new police vehicles and and a 3-percent cost-of-living raise for city employees.
The property tax will remain at $1.33.
