Lightning Strikes Home In Algood; Other Damage Reported

Lightning struck a home on Mirandy Road in Algood Thursday afternoon when a round a thunderstorms swept through the area.

“It had some damage with electrical sockets being blown out of the house,” Putnam County Emergency Management Agency Director Tyler Smith Said. “There was light smoke in the house, but no fire.”

Smith said a tree also fell on a home on Durant Street in Algood, but no injuries reported in either incident.

Putnam County Rescue Squad members were called to assist the Algood Fire Department with removing some trees that were blocking several roadways, Smith said.

Cumberland County Emergency officials also reported lighting strike to a home on Stonecrest Avenue. There was no fire as a result of the strike, according to reports.
