Cookeville-based ATC Automation held a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon for its $10.4 expansion project.
The expansion added nearly 66,000 square feet to the Cookeville facility. More than 41,000 square feet consists of new manufacturing space and 21,000 square feet consists of administrative and engineering offices.
President and General Manager Bill Curran said the company’s new growth will help all facets of the community.
“What we look for is a long-term growth of the Highlands and certainly this area. For our children and our grandchildren, we think it’s going to build good things in the future,” Curran said. “Obviously the employee base, we have a lot of skilled labor here and a third of our workforce is from Tennessee Tech or from higher education in general. obviously this is going to continue that trend moving forward.”
ATC Automation announced the expansion project in August of 2016. AT the time, Curran said ATC’s plans through 2020 would include growth from $75 million to over $100 million in revenue and employment growth from 240 to over 300 employees.
“Think it’s going to give us a new look on what we can do,” Curran said. “We can do more of the same as well as invest in future innovation and automation that a manufacturing base is looking for.”
ATC produces advanced manufacturing equipment for the automotive, medical, energy and consumer products markets.
