Funeral services for Mrs. Teresa June Halfacre Dicus, age 66 of Sparta, will be conducted 1:00pm Friday May 4, 2018 at the Sparta First United Methodist Church with burial in Highland Cemetery. Teresa passed away Monday evening April 30, 2018 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital. Teresa was born June 12, 1951 in Gainesboro to the late Everett Oplis “Elb” Halfacre and Elise Ragland Huff. A proud Granville native, Teresa graduated from Tennessee Tech University and was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. While attending TTU, Teresa met her husband of 42 years, Buddy Dicus. She was a homemaker extraordinaire who loved her family and simply adored her grandsons, as she was affectionately known as “Ma” to her boys. Teresa also loved her “Birthday Girls” and was a member of the Sparta First United Methodist Church. In addition to her father, she is also preceded in death by her brother Marion Halfacre. Teresa’s surviving family includes her Husband of 42 years, Buddy Dicus; Children: Ashley Brent Dicus & wife Amber, Blake Alan Dicus & wife Jacqueline, Summer Kathleen Wood & husband Patrick; Grandchildren: Sam Everett Dicus, Jack Hunter Dicus, Jake Owen Dicus; Mother: Elise Ragland Huff; Sister: Sarah Halfacre Verble & husband Bruce; In-laws: Jess “Buster” & Martha Dicus; Sister-in-law: Diane Reese; Nieces & Nephews: Carly Verble, Lesli Gentry & husband John, Patrick Reese & wife Colleen, Erik Halfacre, Natalie Wilkinson & husband Gavin; Four-legged friend: Kaleb. The family will receive friends Thursday at the Church starting at 4:00pm. Memorial Services for Mr. Lonnie Manning, age 100 of Cookeville will be held Friday, May 4, 2018 beginning at 6:00 PM at West Cookeville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness located at 3850 Gainesboro Grade, Cookeville. Lonnie passed from this life Saturday, April 28, 2018, at NHC Healthcare of Cookeville. He was born Monday, June 11, 1917, he was the son of the late Simme and Leila Manning. He was a loving Husband and Father and was a Veteran of World War II. He owned and operated his own business for many years. He is survived by his wife: Mary (Homsey) Manning of Cookeville; 1 Daughter: Deborah Manning of Cookeville; 1 Son: Stephen Russell Manning of Knoxville.
Funeral services for Mr. George R. Parker, 74, of Gainesboro, will be held at 11 A.M. on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in the Stone community of Jackson County. He passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna. He was born August 15, 1943, in Detroit, MI, to the late Louis F. Parker and Ethel Anderson Parker. He was a farmer and welder, and a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Louis Ward Parker; 2 Nephews: Joseph Parker and Jim Parker; and 1 Brother-in-Law: Spencer Eakin. Survivors include 3 Sons: Tim Parker of Gainesboro, David Parker of La Vergne, TN, and Wayne Bilbrey of Palmyra, TN; 1 Granddaughter: Genevieve Bilbrey LaBean of Ashland City, TN; 1 Sister: Edith Carol Parker Eakin of Nashville; 2 Nephews: Howard Parker and Bruce Eakin; and 3 Nieces: Teresa Johnson, Annette Eakin, and Jennifer Willmore. The family will receive friends on Friday from 4 P.M. – 8 P.M., and Saturday from 9 A.M. until time of services.
A memorial of life visitation for Jo Ann Priest of Cookeville will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 11 am to 1 pm at Northeast Church of Christ in Cookeville with service at 1 pm at the church. Mrs. Priest passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was a retired nurse from Fleetguard in Cookeville that loved her church, family, and friends. Her life was one of giving and caring for others. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Bullard and Elise Boles. Jo is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bobby Priest of Cookeville; son, Terry Priest of Cookeville; four grandchildren. Shawna Huddleston and family of Cookeville, Chris Priest and family of Rickman, Matthew Priest and family of Culpeper, VA, Andy Montgomery and family of Celina; and her sister, Donna Sevier of Franklin. A memorial fund has been set up in lieu of flowers at her church. Memorial Prayer service for James Stanton, 78 of Cookeville, will be Saturday, May 5 at 1 PM from the Cookeville chapel of Hooper Huddleston Horner Funeral Home. Interment will be in Samuel Maxwell Cemetery in Baxter at a later date. Mr. Stanton died Thursday Morning, May 3, 2018 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital in Sparta. He was born July 17, 1939 in the Gentry Community of Putnam County to the late Dill Oscar and Ruby King Bates Stanton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Danny James Stanton, sisters Janice Stanton Cowan Collie and Mary Martha Stanton Snyder. He attended Baxter Seminary. He was a retired foreman with Wilson Sporting Goods of Cookeville. He was a cutter and worked with special orders for baseball and football teams. After his retirement he enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of Gentry Chapel Free Will Baptist Church of Cookeville. Survivors include wife of 58 years ( Married March 26, 1960 in Carthage) Sherron Medlock Stanton of Cookeville, daughter and son-in-law Tammy and Hank Guess, son and daughter-in-law Jacob and Heather Stanton all of Cookeville, sister Sherry Ann Jared of Nashville, grandchildren: Krisy (Roy) Livingston, Crystal (Waylon) Holt, Dustin James (Chelsey) Stanton, Chelsey (Jeremy) Light, Erica Jayne Stanton, Joshua David Stanton, great-grandchildren: Karissa Livingston, Kat Livingston, Sissy Livingston, Kutie Livingston, Cassidy Holt, Sheyene Holt, Adeline Light and Evie Stanton. Funeral services for Mr. Waymon L. Clouse, 80 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 2 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Zion Cemetery in Rickman. Mr. Clouse age 80 of Cookeville was singing the Praises of God as he received his new address with the Lord on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from his residence here on earth. Mr. Clouse was born in Sparta on December 22, 1937 to the late Alanzo and Fannie (Farley) Clouse. He was a member of the Cookeville First Church of God in Cookeville and worked in the air and hydraulics industry. Survivors include his wife: Reba Clouse; one son: Steve Clouse; four grandchildren: Crystal Kipp, Dusty Clouse, Michelle Clouse, Kaitie Clouse; four great-grandchildren: Taizlyn Kipp, Madison Lewis, Emma Lewis, Aiden Black; two brothers: Basil and Roy Clouse and one sister: Marie Smith. In addition to his parents Mr. Clouse is preceded in death by; two brothers: Fred and Ed Clouse; four sisters: Pearl Finley, Velma Raby, Jewel Keller, Bertha Whitfield and one great-grandchild: Taylor Iceman. Interment will follow at a later date in Old Antioch Cemetery in Jackson County. Rayma Jo Nelson passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville after a brief illness. She was born Friday, September 10, 1954 in Cookeville, to the late Herman Long and Docia Dimple Watson Long. Jo loved to read. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister andSte friend. “Mammy”, as she was referred to, loved children and helped raise/keep other families children since she was sixteen years old. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Long. She is survived by: her husband of forty-five years, Kenneth Nelson; daughter, Shelley (Damon) West of Algood; step-daughter, Annette (David) Watson of Nashville; grandchildren, Tyson Darty of Cookeville, Brooklynn Darty of Albany, Kentucky, and Damon “DJ” West, II of Algood; step-grandchildren, Devin West of Springtown, Texas, Beth Watson Laberge of Nashville, and Daniel Watson of Nashville; sister, Bonnie (Jim) Long Rowe of Cookeville; brothers, Perry Long of Nashville, Tommy (Jan) Long of Cookeville, Tony Long of Cookeville, Steve (Pat) Long of Ohio, and Billy (Kathy) Long of McMinnville. Funeral services for Ms. Ruby Edna Sadler Myers, age 97 of Sparta, will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the West Sparta Church of Christ with Derrick Coble officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Ms. Myers passed away Wednesday May 2, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Sparta. She was born October 7, 1920 in Allen County, KY to the late Walter and Guisetta (Bentley) Sadler. Ms. Myers grew up in Scottsville, KY. She married Charlie B. Myers on September 28, 1940. She supported her husband for 77 years as he served Churches of Christ in Kentucky and Tennessee. They moved to Sparta to work with the West Sparta Church of Christ in 1958. Surviving family members include: Two sons: Stacy Myers and his wife Patricia of Oak Ridge and Wesley Myers of Gallatin; Two granddaughters: Kristin DuFrain and husband Jerry of Tampa, FL and Amy Myers-Delaney and husband Ben of Wurtsboro, NY; Two great-grandsons: Zachary DuFrain and Elijah DuFrain of Tampa, FL; Numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents, Ms. Myers was preceded in death by her husband and all of her siblings. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Stepping Stone Pre-School at the West Sparta Church of Christ or Short Mountain Bible Camp in Woodbury, TN. Visitation will be held 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Tuesday at the West Sparta Church of Christ with the funeral and burial to follow immediately.
Celebration of Life for Della “Jean” Smith, 67 of Cookeville, will be held, Friday, May 11, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the chapel of Paran Church in Cookeville. Jean passed from this life Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at her home in Cookeville. Jean was born Wednesday, August 9, 1950 and she was the daughter of the late Carl E. Sr.and the Dorothy (Johnson) Stults. Jean enjoyed spending time with family and working for the Lord. She worked at Lucky B Manufacturing for many years. Jean loved animals and especially her German Shepherd, Duck. Jean is survived by: 2 Daughters: Dawn Huckeby, Jennifer and Terry Mansell; 1 Son: Jamie McGinnis; 2 Grandsons: Daniel James Harville, Elijah Glenn McGinnis; Great-Granddaughter: Kallie Jaden Lynn Harville.
