If your child turns 4-years-old before August 15th, you may want to sign them up for the Voluntary Pre-K program offered by the Putnam County School System.
Jill Ramsey is the Pre-K through 5 teaching and learning supervisor.
“Typically those pre-k classes are located at all of the elementary schools, with the exception of a couple of those. We do have a couple of pre-k classes at Cookeville High School and Algood Middle School,” Ramsey said. “I would encourage parents to not only register their child for kindergarten, but also if they have a pre-k child.”
Enrollment in the Voluntary Pre-K program is based upon a child’s eligibility as identified in Tennessee State law.
Ramsey said parents should find out whether their child gets in to a pre-k class sometime in June.
You can fill out an application at any of the elementary schools
