Unemployment decreased slightly across the Upper Cumberland during March according to statistics released Thursday by the state.
Only Van Buren County reported a slightly higher unemployment number in March over February.
Putnam County saw unemployment claims drop 0.1 percent between February and March to 3.5 percent. The 3.5 percent number in both Putnam and Pickett Counties, the lowest in the Upper Cumberland last month.
Unemployment stood below four percent in four counties. The highest March unemployment numbers show in Clay and Jackson County at 4.7 percent. However, both counties showed the number of unemployment down a full percentage point over this time last year.
Both Putnam and Overton Counties saw unemployment drop 0.7 percent last month.
