Mrs. Shay Allred, age 46 of Livingston, went to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, April 26, 2018. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Funeral services for Mrs. Janie C. Harris, age 74 of Gainesboro, will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Lynn Cemetery located in Jackson Co. Mrs. Harris passed away from this life on Tuesday evening, April 24, 2018 at the Livingston Regional Hospital. Mrs. Harris was born in Celine, LA on March 15, 1944 to the late Noah Franklin and Gracie Lee (Phillips) Cheatwood; Janie worked in the food service as a waitress. She loved her family very much and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include: Husband: James Harris of Gainesboro; 2 Sons: Willie Watts of Kingsport, TN, Jessie Keen of Cookeville; 3 Daughters: Ammie Matthews of Rickman, Tevina Word of Lawrenceburg, TN, Joylene Harris of Sparta; 12 Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren; 2 Sisters and 2 Brothers; A host of Nieces, Nephews, family and friends. She is preceeded in death by: In addition to her parents: Son: James Lee Goodknight; 1 Granddaughter: Patsy Jane Booker; 5 Sisters and 1 Brother. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, April 26, 2018 starting at 5 PM until 8 PM. Bro. Jim Phillips will officiate at the service.
Funeral services for Mary Alice Smith, 88 of Sparta, will be at 2pm Friday, April 27, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Freddy Copeland officiating. Burial will follow in Old Zion Cemetery. Mary Alice passed away on Monday, April 23, 2018, at Life Care Center of Sparta. Born Wednesday, April 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Orville B. and Kibby Etta Lynn Sorrell Sr. Mary Alice was a longtime employee of Sorrell Brothers Construction and Dewhite Utility. She enjoyed flower gardening and was a member of the quilting club of Sparta. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and grandmother. Mary Alice is survived by daughters, Mary Karla Wilhite Fisher (Gerald) and Margaret Joette Wilhite Kinnaird (John) both of Sparta; son, Francis Daniel Wilhite (Melinda) of Sparta; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; brother, Jim Sorrell (Barbara) of Sparta; sisters, Sara Reynolds (Floyd) and Mildred Parris (Clyde) both of Sparta, several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Daniel Wilhite and Cecil Morgan Smith; daughter, Janet Sue Wilhite Sanders (Steve); brothers, Orville B. Sorrell Jr., Jack Sorrell, and Lynn Sorrell; and a sister, Zelma Sorrell. The family will receive friends on Friday from 10 until the time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mr. William “Bud” Booher, age 78 of Livingston, will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 1 PM from the chapel of the Hall Funeral Home of Livingston with burial to follow in the Booher Cemetery. Mr. Booher age 78 of Livingston passed away at Wyndridge Health & Rehab in Crossville on Wednesday, April 25, 2018. Mr. William “Bud” Booher was born in Allons on Tuesday, May 23, 1939 to the late Gorden and Amelia (Hill) Booher. Bud loved to fish, hunt and work in his garden. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include: Wife: Rebecca Booher; 2 Sons: Mark Booher and James (Shana) Booher, 3 Daughters: Tammy , Vickie and Teresa 1 Grandson: William Booher, 2 Grandaughters: Jada and Keira Booher. In addition to his parents Mr. Booher was preceded in death by an infant sister and three brothers: Frank, Tony and Keith Booher. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, April 28, 2018 starting at 11 AM until the time of service. Funeral services for Mrs. Joey Helen Conner Mansell, age 69, of Cookeville, will be at 1 p.m Saturday April 28 at Dyer Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Barnes Cemetery in Overton County. Mrs. Mansell passed away Tuesday evening April 24, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends Friday from 5 – 8 p.m and again Saturday from 11 a.m until service time.
Funeral services for Mrs. Susan E. Bowman 88, of Gainesboro, will be held at 3 P.M. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the John L. Clark Memorial Cemetery in Gainesboro. The family will receive friends on Friday from 3 to 8 P.M. and on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services. She passed away on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center in Cookeville. She was born May 9, 1929 in Gainesboro, to the late George T. and Bessie Lee Jenkins. On November 21, 1953 she was married to the late Tom Joe Bowman, who passed away on February 12, 2010. She was a factory worker in the garment industry. She loved gardening and growing flowers and was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 3 Brothers: Lee, Robert, and Wayne Jenkins; 3 Sisters: Ruth Short, Stella Wims, and Rosa Nell Zuerlein and 1 Granddaughter: Elizabeth Nichole Chinoy. Survivors include 4 Daughters: Jodie Bowman of Gainesboro; Kathy (David) Haynie of Tuscaloosa, AL; Peggy Bowman of Madison, AL; and Sandy (Donnie) Ragland of Gainesboro; 6 Grandchildren: Randy Beach, Matthew (Hannah) Cunningham, Suzie Bowman, Andrew Grisham, Alex (Teola) Ragland, and Lincoln (Alyssa) Ragland; 5 Great-Grandchildren: Kaya, Landon, Emma, Wyatt, Raelyn; 1 Brother: Royce (Linda) Jenkins of Gainesboro; 1 Sister: Jo Helen Brown of Gainesboro; and 1 Brother-in-law: Claude (Betty) Bowman. Nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive. Memorial donations may be made to the Charles Ralph Holland Memorial Library or the donor’s favorite charity by contacting the funeral home.
Funeral service for Mrs. Agnes K. Schmidt Sells, age 99, of Livingston will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday April 29,2018 from the First Christian Church in Livingston. Rev. Dee Wells and Rev. James Shenko will officiate. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Sells passed from this life on Wednesday evening, April 25, 2018 at the Overton County Health & Rehab Center. Mrs. Sells was born in Tallin, Estonia on May 5, 1918 to the late Aleksander Gottsried and Selma Jakopson Schmitt. Mrs. Sells worked in the Garment Industry for many years. She was member of the First Christ Church in Livingston. Agnes loved her family dearly, and enjoyed crocheting. She loved flowers and her dog. Agnes also loved going to church and singing. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Agnes leaves her son, Butch Sells & wife Teresa of Livingston; grandchildren, Cody Sells & wife Kisha, Whitney Sells Matthews & husband Brandon & Tyler Sells; great grandchildren, Baylin & Brody Sells, Ezra Davidson & Eden Matthews; special friend, Coco Snowden. In addition to her parents, Agnes was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Dolbert Sells & brother, Harry Schmidt. The family will welcome friends at the First Christian Church on Saturday evening from 6 until 9 p.m., with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.
