Brown Chosen To Lead Jackson County Schools

Jackson County High School Principal Kristy Brown will be the next director of schools.

The Board of Education voted to hire Brown during Tuesday night’s regular scheduled meeting.

“I know that the prosperity of a community depends greatly on the level of education of its citizens,” Brown said, “I want to work relentlessly until I know that opportunities have been provided to those kids in our classrooms so they can do whatever they want to do in life.”

Brown will begin serving the position November 1st, a day after current director of schools Joe Barlow officially retires. Barlow spent the past 15 years serving as director of schools.

Brown will be hired under a two year contract with the same pay as Barlow.
