The new Cumberland County Forestry work center is nearing completion.
Local Forester Jim Dale said the new facility will help improve workflow efficiency and save money.
“We are actually closing an old facility,” Dale said. “We had people scattered in two or three locations and we are trying to consolidate work space. We are also getting rid of two or three locations that were not conducive to our operations up there.”
Dale said the new facility will house an area forester, a call center, and an area for outreach and educational events.
Before the facility can be occupied, final approval needs to be given from the codes inspectors. Dale said the project has suffered some construction setback, which led to a delay in its completion.
The $1.2 million project began nearly a year ago on Highway 127 South.
