Starting this weekend Tennesseans will be able to purchase wine and liquor in stores on Sundays.
Governor Bill Haslam signed the bill into law Friday morning.
Interstate Wine and Spirits President Bill George said he wasn’t a fan of the bill, but plans to open the Cookeville store up on Sunday.
“We accept the fact the the governor has signed the bill into law, but people need a day off,” George said.
George said they will evaluate the Sunday sales and decide if they will continue to open or when they will close up on Sundays.
The bill allows Sunday sales from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
Under the new law, sales of wine in grocery stores on Sundays must wait until January 1.
