Clay County Wanting Access Route For Industrial Park

Clay County Commissioners have approved a resolution declaring the county’s support and desire for a by-pass or truck route around the city of Celina.

“We are so blessed that the new Highway 52 got completed coming into Celina. That was a tremendous blessing to us,” County Mayor Dale Reagan said. “Along with that, a lot of commercial traffic has increased because that’s one of their cuts from Interstate 40, Highway 111 and 65 going to Kentucky.”

Regan said a lot of that commercial traffic runs through downtown creating congestion and safety concerns. He said the county would like a road that would by-pass the downtown area and lead to the county industrial park.

“An access road is something that’s going to be very vital for this park as well,” Reagan said. “Hopefully this can be something that will take care of two situations. The safety factors we are dealing with and then an access to the industrial park.”

The Tennessee Department of Transportation did a study in 2007 looking at the possibility of a truck route around the citY.
