Boyd Wanting To Reinvest In Technical Education

Republican gubernatorial candidate Randy Boyd says he wants to provide better access to Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology if elected as the next governor of Tennessee.

During a campaign stop in Cookeville Thursday, Boyd spoke about his desire to build on higher education and provide more TCAT campuses across the state.

“My plan is to work with the technical colleges across our state, have them build actual satellite campuses on the high schools so that kids could actually graduate from the high school, not only with a high school diploma, but with a certificate in welding, mechatronics, nursing, or one of those job-ready skills that companies and employers are so desperate for,” Boyd said.

“Not everybody needs to go to a four year college, but everybody needs to have the opportunity to have a skill that gets them a great job.”

Boyd said he wants to reinvest in technical education in order to provide more opportunities for businesses to have a skilled workforce.
