Celina To Be Featured In Film Sneak Peak Saturday

Celina will host a film premiere Saturday as citizens get a sneak peak of a movie featuring Clay County residents.

The Income Outcome project chronicles the idea of income in America in this new documentary. The film examines the growing disparity between those with money and those without.

“The film is on pockets on poverty throughout the country,” Celina Organizer Thomas Watson said. “They came to Celina and fell in love with it and are coming back.”

The Universal Income project, Watson said, pushes for a basic standard of living across the country, by pushing cash payments for all citizens.

The group will show a 25-minute version of the documentary film Saturday, while performing some additional filming for the project. That filming will take place inside the historic courthouse.

Watson said the filmmakers chose Clay County because of its economic challenges over the last decade. He said the crew, however, quickly came to love the region and its people.

Having seen some rough cuts of the documentary, Watson left impressed.

“Very, very professional,” Watson said. “Some of them have worked formerly at production studios, so they’re a pretty outstanding group of cinematographers and producers.”

The free cookout and film preview begins at Noon Saturday at Courthouse Square.
