James Earl Lollar, 75, of Baxter passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. No services are planned.
Carl Douglass Keck, infant son of Cody and Kathryn Henderson Keck, of Cookeville passed away Wednesday. No services are planned.
Memorial Services for Dr. Lloyd R. Hassler, 75, of Cookeville will be Friday, March 23, 2018 at 7pm in the Chapel of Presley Funeral Home, with Dr. Charles McCaskey officiating. Mr. Hassler passed away peacefully Tuesday March 20th at Vanderbilt Hospital. He was a native of Byrdstown. After graduating from High School, he attended Tennessee Tech where he earned his bachelor degree in Biology. He served in the United States Army as a second lieutenant and completed a tour of duty in Vietnam. He then received his Masters degree in Wildlife Management. He received his Medical degree from the University of Tennessee Memphis. He founded Convenient Care Clinic, the first walk-in clinic in Cookeville. He was active in the National Trappers Association for several years and brought the (NTA) national convention to Cookeville. He was part owner in Stonehaus Winery in Crossville for several years. After retirement, he began farming which was his life-long dream. He was preceded in death by his wife Marilyn Hassler and parents Lloyd and Avis Hassler. He is survived by his sister, Gail Dial and husband James; brother, Ernie Hassler and wife Janice Sells; and nephew, Rob Ring and wife Shannon Terry. The family will receive friends Friday 5pm-7pm at the funeral home. Celebration of Life for Mr. Frank C. Trevino, 94 of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 am from the chapel of Crest Lawn Funeral Home with Mike Icenogle and Pastor Kevin Frieze officiating. Frank went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Cumberland House Hospice in Crossville. Frank was born September 3, 1923 in Monterrey, Mexico to the late Francisco and Julia (Chapa) Trevino. Frank was a loving son, wonderful husband, providing and encouraging dad and a loving grandpa. He was a self taught historian and loved to share his findings and even passed along his wisdom to those that visited with him. Frank was lay Pastor at Lawndale Mennonite Church in Chicago, Illinois. He had a servants heart and a passion for the Lord. Frank over the years was the head of the council, secretary, treasurer, Sunday school teacher and handled the maintenance at his church. He was the spiritual leader of the household and would impart the love of the Lord and therefore led his family to God. When Frank and Maria moved to Cookeville, they became members of Trinity Assembly Church in Algood under the direction of Mike Campbell. Frank is survived by: Wife of 75 Years: Maria A. (Villarreal) Trevino; 5 Children: Mary Trevino Nieto, Julia Trevino Palos and husband Javier, Norma Trevino Szymczak and husband Alan, Margaret Trevino Duran and husband Richard, and Delilah Trevino Icenogle and husband Michael; 21 Grandchildren: Anita, Alicia, Marissa, Robert, Javier Jr., Kathy, Peter, Jason, Georgiana, Johanna, Tatianna, Frank Jr., Carissa, Angie, Daniel, Rosanne, Angel, Alejandro, Rick, and Chris. 28 Great-Grandchildren; Daughter-In-Law: Maria Elena. In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by: 2 Children, Frank and Daniel Trevino. Son-In-Law, Jesse Nieto, Grandson, Anthony Trevino and Great-Granddaughter, Mary Eliza Galvan. Funeral services for Mr. James H. Hamlet, 83, of Gainesboro, will be held at 1 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Anderson – Upper Cumberland Funeral Home in Gainesboro. Burial will follow in the Lynn Cemetery in the Burristown community of Jackson County. He passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. He was born May 15, 1934, in Gainesboro, to the late Bill Hamlet and Daffo Hamlet. He was married to Ethel Hamlet, who survives. He was a handyman, and an assembly worker at General Motors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 1 Brother: Lonnie Hamlet. He is survived by his Wife: Ethel Hamlet of Gainesboro. Several children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers, and sisters also survive. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10 A.M. until time of services.
Funeral services for Martha Elizabeth Glenn Templeton, 88 of Sparta, will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Don Shuster and Robert Burton officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery. Mrs. Martha passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018, at her residence. Born Friday, October 25, 1929, in Sparta, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Vance Glenn and the late Eunice Sparks Glenn. Mrs. Martha worked in the local banking industry for 34 years. She was an active member of the American Cancer Society, where she served as Treasurer for many years. She was also a member of the Better Business Bureau of Professional Women and the Renaissance Club. She was active in the White County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, where she served as Women’s Chair for several years. She was also involved in the local March of Dimes, and she participated in the Central View Community Club. She attended the Quebeck Church of Christ. Martha not only had a passion for each of the causes and clubs she served; she also carried this devotion to her hobbies and interests. She loved attending auctions on a hunt for antiques and glassware with knowledge about worth and an eye for detail. Martha brought this uncontainable spirit to White County High School Basketball games, attending each home game and cheering on her team. No matter where she went, Martha brought her enthusiastic zeal for life with her. Her fervor for life was first and foremost felt by her family and friends, and she always made sure everyone knew her love and devotion for them. Surviving are daughter, Janan Wallace (Jerry) of Sparta; son, Quinn Templeton (Joy) of Quebeck; granddaughter Kendra Wallace of Ashland City; granddaughter Megan Templeton of Rock Island; grandson Joshua Templeton of Quebeck; granddaughter Maria Templeton of Quebeck; sister, Florence St. Thomas of Charlotte, North Carolina; and special friend Gladys Garrell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Clifford Templeton; sister, Ellen Officer; brother, Linze Arnold Glenn, and an infant brother. Family will receive friends from 4pm until 8pm on Friday, March 23, 2018, and Saturday from 10am until 2pm at the funeral home.
Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Mott, age 85 of Cookeville, will be held Sunday, March 25th at 2:00 p.m. at Collegeside Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Cookeville City Cemetery. Mrs. Mott’s family will receive friends Saturday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and again Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. She died Sunday March 18, 2018.
Funeral services for Wanda Gibson, age 72 of Sparta, will be conducted 2:00pm Sunday, March 25, 2018 from the Chapel of Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5-8:00pm at Hunter Funeral Home. Gibson passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at her residence.
Funeral services for R.L. Mason Jr., 87 of Quebeck, will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Oak Lawn Funeral Home with Dewey Young officiating. Burial will follow in Jericho Cemetery. He passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital. Born April 10, 1930, he was the son of Ray Mason and Augusta Cox Mason. He was of Baptist faith. He worked as a lumber inspector for 45 years and was a lifelong farmer, which was his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Franklin Dee Mason; and sister, Mary Frances Mason. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Luzelle Clark Mason; daughter, Kay Mason Maples and husband, Ray of Sparta; grandson, Allen Maples and wife, Billie Jo of Quebeck; granddaughter, Michelle Maples of Doyle; great-grandchildren, Jacob Maples and Anna Maples; sister-in-law, Vivian Dodson of McMinnville, and several nieces and nephews. The family will welcome friends on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.

Memorial services for Mrs. Carolyn Sue Fristoe, age 70, of Crossville, will be at 11 a.m. Monday March 26 at Dyer Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Floyd officiating. Carolyn passed away Tuesday evening March 20, 2018 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center. She was born September 18, 1947 in Hazard County, KY to the late Aaron Creech and Maxie Allen. Carolyn was a homemaker and for a period of time a boutique owner in Cookeville. She was an active member of the Assembly of God church for many years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Kent Fristoe. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Dilts of Lebanon and Michelle Hood of Crossville; sister and brother-in-law, Myra and Eddie Rogers of Cookeville; four grandchildren, Chastity, Ashley, Christian, and Wesley; and five great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. until service time. Funeral services for Lawrence B. “Larry” Welch, 95, of Cookeville will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Presley Funeral Home with Bro. Seth Presley and Sid Gilbreath officiating. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Mr. Welch passed away Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Signature Healthcare of Putnam County. He was born Wednesday, October 18, 1922 in Burningtown, North Carolina to the late Christopher Columbus Welch and Gracie M. Smiley Welch. Mr. Welch was raised in North Carolina and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Western Carolina University. He taught in North Carolina schools and at one time owned and operated a supermarket there. During World War II, he was a gunner on a B-24, making and surviving 69 missions. In Alaska, Mr. Welch taught in Barrow at Koyuk Day School. He was an education specialist for Bethel schools and at Nome, then served as principal at Barrow and Kotzebue before going to Sitka. He was the only principal to serve at all three of the larger BIA Alaska schools. Mr. Welch loved to garden, entertain friends and devote time to community service especially projects dealing with youngsters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Jean Welch. He is survived by his son, Michael Welch and wife Amy and their son Christopher; nephews, Dennis Maynard and Donald Maynard. The family will receive friends Tuesday 9:00 am until service time at the funeral home.
A memorial service for Mr. Dwight Edward Luna, 68 of Sparta, will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Johnson Chapel Freewill Baptist Church with John Cunningham officiating. Mr. Dwight passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at his residence. Born Sunday, August 28, 1949 in Smithville, he was the son of the late Reefus and Ressie Luna. Mr. Dwight loved hunting and model cars. Survivors include his wife, Maria Luna of Smithville; son, Brian Luna of Smithville; daughter, Heather Guy (Randy) of Sparta; brother, Larry Luna (Angela) of Smithville; sister, Bonnie Chacon (Marco) of Smithville; step-daughter, Ayde Ray; 2 grandchildren, Sierra Hendrien and Dakota Hendrien, and many friends and neighbors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Edward Luna.
