A joint investigation including Cookeville Police and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department busted a drug trafficking operation at a Jefferson Avenue hotel.
33-year-old Billy White of Cookeville faces five charges. His bond set at $40,000. 39-year-old Kenneth Bayless of Spencer faces one count of the sale or delivery of a schedule II drug for resale. Bond set at $25,000. 26-year-old Sharlinda Turner charged with a failure to appear in General Sessions Court. All three transported to the Putnam County Jail Wednesday.
Law enforcement conducted at an unnamed Jefferson Avenue hotel. Law enforcement believed White stayed at the hotel. During surveillance, White exited his hotel room where police took him into custody.
During a search, police found cocaine, methamphetamine, and a large amount of cash on White. After obtaining a search warrant of White’s room, investigators found a large quantity of processed marijuana, scales, packaging material, a loaded handgun and a rifle.
White faces one count possession of schedule II for resale, one count of possession of schedule VI for resale, one count of schedule III for resale, one count of introduction of contraband in penal facility and one count of possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Agents from the Drug Investigation Division of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Middle Tennessee Task Force, FBI, DEA, and the 13th Judicial Drug Task Force participated in the investigation.
